These are drop-in only hours, so please come by with questions, or be prepared to listen to Avi go off on a tangent! This is their time to shine and bestow upon you all their decades of wisdom.
Avi will be sharing advice about self-publishing, marketing, pitching, production, distribution, and anything else under the sun. However please note that Avi will NOT be giving reviews of portfolios or taking pitches for publication by Silver Sprocket.
Drama Queen! Writing Compelling Conflict into Queer Comics
Get ready to workshop your drama with other queer cartoonists! Conflict - whether internal, interpersonal, or global - is an essential element of any juicy story. What are particularly queer flavors of conflict? How do our characters navigate it and learn from it? How does it change them?
In this 3-hour workshop hosted by Kristen Zimmerman (Home) and Mike Rossi (Branches), we’ll look at examples of conflict in queer comics, then break into small groups to workshop and critique each other's work. Participants will leave with concrete feedback and an experience of creative community.
Each participant should bring 3 copies of a work in progress - a story outline, a fully thumbnailed chapter of a longer project, or a mini comic - to share with other participants.
Comix Remix: Queer Comics Readings
Join us at Silver Sprocket for a night of comics readings by some of the most unique queer comic artists around!
Additional details to be announced!
